A Man Touring Heaven

A man was touring heaven and he marveled at the angels, mighty warriors everyone.  His jaw dropped at the splendor of gold and jewels he could not have imagined on earth.  He was blown away with the warmth of the love and the lack of any kind of strife or pain.

Then he came to a warehouse that was so large that even in heaven it dwarfed most of the others things he could see.  He could not see the end of the building and its top reached into the heavenly clouds.

He asked his guide, “What’s in there?”

A slight shadow crossed the face of the guide, not much by earth standards, but totally out of place in the peace of heaven.

He said, almost sadly, “That building holds all the gifts the father prepared for his children while they were still on earth, but they did not choose to receive.  Those are all the gifts they could have had if the just had trusted God for all the rest.”

We need to open our hearts and hands and release the things that separate us from God’s will in order to allow God to fill our hands with his gifts.

Even God can’t put anything in a closed fist. We can’t hang on the old and receive the new.  We must let go in order to receive.
