The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that three things cause 80% all health issues found in the United States. They are smoking, poor diet and lack of exercise.

In our country, the U.S., approximately two thirds of adults are way overweight.
Children are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Typically, this is an adult disease.
Have you ever looked at the ingredients in processed food? Next time you in the store, check the label. It is a real eye opener.
A simple rule of thumb, read the label, if it has words you don't understand, do not buy it. Process foods are the least healthy foods, whole foods, unprocessed, are the healthiest. Preservatives and other chemical compositions are hard on the body.

If you do buy process foods (and we all do) look for organic foods and easy to understand labels. Organic processed foods, with easy to read labels, are less nutritious then whole foods. This is still better than the junk you find in most commercially bulk processed foods.
Kerry Graff, M.D., co-author of 4Leaf Guide to Vibrant Health , discovered through her research, the benefits of better food consumption. She adopted a whole food plant based diet after watching the movie, “ Forks Over Knives”. Over time, her pre-diabetes, acid reflux, chronic constipation, hypothyroidism, and depression went away.
Within her own practice, Dr Graff created the 4Leaf Program. This program is a set of tools to help patients take control of their health via improved diet.
The book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, uses the whole food plant based diet. Dr Esselstyn has pioneered the research of a comprehensive change in diet and life style. He found a whole food plant based diet can reverse the progression of heart disease. Also, this change will even help severe coronary heart disease.
Dr. T Colin Campbell, in his book, “The China Study”, goes into great detail on how these illnesses, and more, connect to one’s diet.
Even if you do not feel a whole food plant based diet will work for you, educate yourself on its benefits. You could put in place many parts of this diet in combination with your current diet.
Yes, I am a proponent of the plant based diet. But keeping meat in your diet is fine. Cut back on the read meat, increase the veggies, and remove heavy fatting meats.
But, please, do everything possible to remove processed foods from your diet.
If you smoke, stop! You can do it. Get help where ever you can to stop smoking.
Join a gym for at least a year and let them teach you how to properly exercise. If you cannot afford a gym, try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily.
Only you can make yourself feel better by wanting to and then doing it.
